11th Jul 10 Lizard Kings, The world’s largest & most powerful monitors.
Monitor lizards are real life dragons. Armed with sharp teeth and tearing claws, these fearsome predators are smart calculating killers. Outliving the dinosaurs, they evolved into the largest lizards still walking the planet. In this film we join the ‘Lizard Man’, distinguished US biologist Dr. Eric Pianka, on an expedition into Australia’s red heartland, where with miniature video cameras we open a window into their secretive world. We also visit the University of Tennessee, where we discover monitors are doing what mammals do – they’re thinking ahead.
